Kwik Fit introduces an award-winning subscription service to gain a first-mover advantage in the UK market

After noticing a sharp decline in vehicle ownership among young drivers — but a surge in demand for subscription models — Kwik Fit asked a simple question: what if you could handle your car maintenance through an app? 


Showoff used MuleSoft and Salesforce along with Stripe’s payment solutions to help Kwik Fit develop a brand new mobile app and payments system for its new subscription service, Kwik Fit Club.


In just 12 months, Showoff took Kwik Fit Club from proof of concept to live consumer launch, with the new service winning the 2021 National Tyre Distributors Association (NTDA) Product Innovation of the Year Award.

Responding to a shift in consumer demand

Falling vehicle ownership — and a growing demand for subscription services — saw Kwik Fit facing an ultimatum: quickly seize a gap in the market, or miss out on a huge captive audience of younger drivers. 


The problem was, with a complex network of disparate SaaS systems, legacy infrastructure, and trapped data pipelines, development progress was slow.


To build a platform that could handle a high volume of personalised interactions, unique subscriptions, and recurring revenue, data had to be available in a flash. With everything accessible in a pinch, Kwik Fit could provide a flexible, frictionless experience – and an entirely new way for customers to engage with its brand. 


That’s when Kwik Fit enlisted the help of Showoff to build the back-office functionality behind its new, subscription-based service model: Kwik Fit Club.

Netflix, Spotify…Kwik Fit?

A Kwik Fit Club subscription lets customers pay a monthly fee to cover car tyre replacements and repairs, vehicle MOT, and more. For younger drivers, it removes some of the unexpected costs when something (inevitably) goes wrong with their vehicle. 


Showoff used Stripe Billing and Payments to quickly set up a system for collecting these personalised, monthly subscription payments. The platform and partner app was integrated with Kwik Fit’s existing Salesforce CRM to feed in data from new and existing customers. As a result, every interaction is stored in one central location, for immediate access. 


Behind the scenes, Showoff used MuleSoft to aggregate data such as make, model, wear rates, and other characteristics to create a unique subscription for each vehicle. Once the subscription has been activated, MuleSoft facilitates the service by coordinating booking slots and required inventory, and reconciling service costs with invoices. 


The platform is quick, intuitive, and most importantly, accessible for KwikFit’s audience of younger— and more impatient—customers.

An award-winning partnership

With Showoff at the helm, Kwik Fit was able to launch the new subscription service in a blazingly fast 12 months. The project was a first-to-market offering in the UK and thanks to its highly-personalised design, received the 2021 National Tyre Distributors Association (NTDA) Product Innovation of the Year Award. 


With rapid development, deployment, and ongoing management from Showoff, KwikFit were able to quickly capitalise on a growing consumer market — and deliver a fresh take on a traditional service model.



What’s next for Kwik Fit?

After an incredibly successful launch to private vehicle owners, Kwik Fit has expanded its offering to include corporate subscriptions for fleets, enterprises, and corporate customers too. Showoff continues to help manage the rollout and help Kwik Fit build extra functionality, features, and more for its growing digital platform.
